Press release by PEAK-System Technik, October 2010
==================================================
E1-certified development platform with CiA 447 and OBD-2

PEAK-System expands the functional range of its development platform PCAN-GPRS Link. The device has two CAN channels, one RS-232 interface, a serial Tx input for DTCO data, GPRS data transfer, GPS, and discrete inputs and outputs. The internal memory (SD card) can be used in terms of a data logger. The units core is a freely programmable microcontroller.

The provided base libraries and the API allow the access to the different hardware resources and the interpretation of incoming data, e.g. FMS or DTCO data. Furthermore, libraries for OBD-2 and CiA 447 are available now. CiA 447 is a standardised bus for additional peripherals in special-purpose vehicles (taxi, police, fire brigade etc.).

The CiA 447 sample application of the PCAN-GPRS Link takes on the whole initialisation procedure for the devices attached to the CiA 447 bus. Furthermore, the vehicle-side data objects from OBD-2 and DTCO, and the data of the digital inputs are transferred to the CiA 447 bus. Forwarding of additional data can be implemented by yourself or by PEAK-System on your request.

An unproblematic integration of the PCAN-GPRS Link in a vehicle is ensured by the ECE type approval E1. For dedicated CiA 447 gateway applications PEAK-System is currently developing a cost-optimized series module.
